Knitting two socks simultaneously on two circular needles has gained popularity recently. The idea of having both socks completed at the same time is very appealing!
Your circular needles should be 16-24 inches long, depending on your personal preference. Once stitches are cast on, heel stitches always remain on needle 1 and instep stitches always remain on needle 2. It helps if the needles are different colors .
When the stitches of a needle are at rest, they are moved to the flexible portion of the needle. This provides the knitter with the the "give" necessary to knit in the round.
| Step One Cast on the total number of required stitches on to one circular needle. This needle will end up being needle 2 and will hold your instep stitches. |

| Step Three Cast on the total number of required stitches for the second sock. Make sure your cast on is done on the needle end that is away from sock number 1's yarn supply. (It really helps to use needles that are different colors. |
